August Bebel Institut Berlin
Berlin ist eine Stadt mit Menschen unterschiedlichster sozialer und ethnischer Herkunft und vielfältigen Lebensstilen. Das August Bebel Institut will mit seinen Veranstaltungen dazu beitragen, im politischen Dialog diese Verschiedenheit (Diversity) kreativ zu nutzen und will Menschen in ihrem politischen Denken und emanzipatorischen Engagement unterstützen.
Das August Bebel Institut ist eine gemeinnützige Einrichtung der politischen Bildung, die 1947 von sozialdemokratischen Zeitungsverlegern aus Berlin gegründet wurde, um Menschen für die kommunalpolitische Arbeit zu qualifizieren. Namensgeber ist August Bebel (1840–1913) der Begründer der organisierten sozialdemokratischen Arbeiterbewegung in Deutschland.
Stadt – Politik – Geschichte
Im Mittelpunkt der politischen Bildung steht das zivilgesellschaftliche Leben in der Stadt. Unser Bildungs- und Diskussionsveranstaltungen befassen sich mit aktuellen Themen wie Bürger- und Menschenrechte, Stadtentwicklung, Migration, Wirtschaft, Bildung, Kultur, Jugend- und Sozialpolitik. Wir begleiten politisch Interessierte mit stadt- und kommunalpolitischen Workshops und initiieren den Dialog von verschiedenen Gruppen für eine demokratische Stadtkultur. Wir regen zur gesellschaftlichen Partizipation an und wollen junge Menschen zu selbstorganisierten politischen Aktivitäten befähigen.
Wir befassen uns mit zeitgeschichtlichen Fragen in Bezug auf die Berliner Geschichte der Arbeiterbewegung und der anderen sozialen Bewegungen, der Idee einer sozialen Demokratie, des Widerstandes im Nationalsozialismus und der Entwicklung des politischen Berlins.
Darüber hinaus tauscht sich das August Bebel Institut mit internationalen Partner/innen der Zivilgesellschaft aus anderen Großstädten zu den Herausforderungen der Globalisierung und sozialen Entwicklungen in Städten aus.
Bildung – Galerie – Bibliothek
Unsere Veranstaltungen stehen allen interessierten Frauen und Männern offen, die sich politisch bilden und in einen Dialog treten wollen. Politische Entwicklungen werden exemplarisch diskutiert, um Gestaltungsspielräume aufzuzeigen und politisch-demokratisches Engagement zu ermöglichen. Mit der »Galerie im Kurt Schumacher Haus« haben wir einen Ort, an dem sich politische und zeitgeschichtliche Ausstellungen mit künstlerischen Produktionen aus der Vielfalt der Stadt abwechseln. Hier kann sich Kultur und politische Bildung verbinden. Eine kleine Bibliothek legt besonderes Augenmerk auf die Aufarbeitung zeitgeschichtlicher Themen, speziell der Arbeiter/innen-Bewegung, der sozialen Bewegungen und der Geschichte der Sozialdemokratie Berlins. Regelmäßig erinnern wir an engagierte Persönlichkeiten des politischen Berlins. Mit Bibliotheksgesprächen und der »Werkstatt Linke Lebensläufe« entwickeln wir eine emanzipatorische Erinnerungskultur weiter.

Berlin is home to people with all kinds of social and ethnic backgrounds with diverse lifestyles. The August Bebel Institute aims to promote dialogue and understanding between different social groups, thus taking advantage of this rich diversity in a creative manner. The goal of the August Bebel Institute is to assist citizens in freely expressing their political ideas and social commitment, and facilitate an emancipating and critical participation involvement in politics.
The August Bebel Institute is a community-based institution that works in the field of political education. It was created in 1947 by a group of social democrats, who worked as newspaper editors in Berlin at the time. Since its foundation, the August Bebel Institute’s main goal has been to provide support to citizens interested in communal-based work. The institution is named after August Bebel (1840-1913) who was the founder of the Germany’s social democratic labour movement.
City – Politics – History
The focus of political education lies in the civic life of the city itself. Our activities address current topics, such as human- and civil rights, urban development, migration, the economy, education, culture, as well as youth- and social policy. We assist those who are interested in politics by offering workshops on communal- and city-related topics. We aim to start a dialogue between different social groups thus promoting and strengthening our democratic culture. We encourage active social participation and enpower younger generations to organize themselves politically.
We address questions on contemporary history that relate both to Berlin’s organised labour movement and other social movements, the concept of a social democracy, the resistance movement during the National Socialism period, as well as Berlin’s own political development. The August Bebel Institute also cooperates with partners from various social groups from other parts of the world. This cultivates a productive exchange of ideas on how other big cities face the challenges posed by globalization and urban development.
Education – Gallery – Library
Our events are open to anyone who is interested in political education and wants to enter into dialogue with others. We explore political developments using concrete examples, in order to show policy tactics and enable citizens to engage in a demoratic dialogue. The “Gallery in the Kurt Schumacher House” provides a platform for political and historical exhibitions. Differing artistic productions reflect the city’s rich diversity, being a place where culture and political education meet.
Our modest library strives to present historical analysis of topics, such as those related to the labour movement, other social movements, and Berlin’s history of social democracy. We also regularly highlight personalities involved in Berlin’s political scene. The library discussions and the project “Workshop of Biographies from the Left”, are intended to develop, foster and strengthen a culture of remembrance.
El Instituto August Bebel
Berlín es una ciudad cuyos habitantes son de orígenes sociales y étnicos muy diversos y, por tanto, sus estilos de vida muy diferentes entre sí. El Instituto August Bebel desea contribuir, con sus actividades, al enriquecimiento del diálogo político de la población; pretende aprovechar esta diversidad cultural de manera creativa y, al mismo tiempo, apoyarla a vivir libremente en concordancia con su pensamiento político y su compromiso social.
El Instituto August Bebel es una institución con enfoque comunitario en cuanto a la formación política. Fue establecido en 1947 por un grupo de socialdemócratas quienes trabajaban como editores de periódicos en Berlin. Hoy como ayer, el objetivo de la institución es formar y fortalecer las capacidades políticas para favorecer la acción de los actores involucrados. El nombre de la Fundación proviene de August Bebel (1840–1913), quien fue el fundador del movimiento laboral organizado socialdemócrata en Alemania.
Ciudad – Política – Historia
El enfoque de la formación política está arraigado en la vida cívica de la ciudad. Nuestros eventos educativos de análisis se abocan a los temas actuales tales como: los derechos humanos y ciudadanos, desarrollo urbano, migración, economía, educación, cultura, así como la política social y de la juventud. Buscamos apoyar a los interesados en la política, con talleres y espacios de análisis sobre los temas urbanos de carácter comunitario e iniciar el diálogo entre grupos diversos para fomentar una cultura urbana democrática. Queremos movilizar la participación ciudadana y capacitar a los jóvenes para organizarse de manera independiente en sus actividades políticas. Nos interesan las cuestiones en cuanto a las épocas en relación a la historia del movimiento laboral en Berlín, así como de otros movimientos sociales, que sostuvieron la idea de una democracia social, mediante la resistencia durante el nacionalsocialismo y el desarrollo político posterior de Berlín.
El Instituto August Bebel mantiene un diálogo constante con actores de la sociedad civil de otros países. Este diálogo internacional busca el intercambio con otras grandes ciudades sobre retos similares que enfrentan ante la globalización y el desarrollo social.

Nuestros eventos se orientan a todas las mujeres y hombres interesados(as), quienes desean capacitarse políticamente y establecer un diálogo. Los desarrollos políticos se discuten en base a ejemplos concretos para así mostrar los hechos a través de escenarios y posibilitar, por medio de éstos, un auténtico compromiso demócrata.
La »Galería en la Casa Kurt Schumacher« ofrece un espacio para exposiciones políticas e históricas con producciones artísticas que reflejan la diversidad de la ciudad. Aquí se integran cultura y formación política. Nuestra pequeña biblioteca se enfoca al análisis de temas históricos, en especial al movimiento de trabajadores, movimientos sociales y a la trayectoria de la democracia social de Berlín. Con frecuencia recordamos aquí a personalidades que vivieron comprometidas con la política de Berlín. Con diferentes coloquios y el »Taller de las biografías de los personajes de izquierda« queremos continuar fomentando una cultura que conmemore el alcance histórico emancipatorio.
August Bebel Enstitüsü Berlin
Berlin, birbirinden farklı toplumsal sınıflara ve etnik kökenlere sahip bir nüfûsun yaşadığı, çeşitli yaşam tarzlarını barındıran bir şehir. August Bebel Enstitüsü, düzenlediği etkinliklerle bu farklılık ve çeşitliliğin siyasî iletişimde değerlendirilmesine katkıda bulunarak, her türlü siyasî katılım ve düşünceyi desteklemektedir.
Berlinli sosyal demokrat gazete yayıncılarının 1947 yılında siyasî eğitim merkezi amacıyla kurdukları August Bebel Enstitüsü, yerel ölçekte siyasî çalışmalar yapmak isteyen kişilerin gerekli bilgi ve deneyimleri kazanabileceği bir kuruluş olmayı hedefliyor. Kuruluşa, adı verilen August Bebel, Almanya’da demokratik işçi hareketinin kurucusudur ve 1840 ile 1913 yılları arasında yaşamıştır.
Kent – Siyaset - Tarih
Siyasî eğitimin odağını sivil toplum bilinci ve bu bilinçle gelişen toplumsal hayat teşkil etmektedir.Bu bağlamda düzenlediğimiz eğitim ve tartışmaya yönelik etkinliklerimiz vatandaşlık ve insan hakları, kentsel gelişim, göç, iktisat, eğitim, kültürün yanısıra gençlere ve topluma yönelik siyaset gibi güncel konular etrafında oluşuyor. Siyasete ilgi duyanlar için yerel ve ulusal siyaset hakkında atölye çalışmalari düzenleyerek demokratik bir devletten beklenen değerlere ulaşılabilmesi için farklı kesimleri biraraya getiriyoruz. Sivil toplum hareketlerine katılımı teşvik ederek gençlere kendi ayakları üzerinde durabilme ve kendi siyasî görüşlerini oluşturabilme yetisi kazandırmak istiyoruz. Berlin’de işçi hareketinin tarihi kadar diğer toplumsal hareketlerin tarihi, toplumsal demokrasi fikri, milliyetçi sosyalizm döneminde ortaya çıkan direniş hareketleri ve Berlin’in siyasî yöndeki gelişimi en önemli ilgi alanlarımızı oluşturmaktadır. August Bebel Enstitüsü, diğer ülkelerin büyükşehirlerindeki bağımsız kişi ve kuruluşlarla da küreselleşme ve toplumsal gelişmeler hakkında işbirliği yapmayı hedeflemektedir..
Eğitim – Galeri – Kütüphane
Etkinliklerimiz, siyasî eğitime ve iletişime ilgi duyan herkese açıktır. Siyaset sahnesinin sınırlarını tespit edebilmek ve demokrasinin en temel ihtiyacı olan siyasî katılımı mümkûn kılabilmek arzusuyla, güncel gelişmeleri örnek olarak masaya yatırıp tartışıyoruz.
Bünyemizde yer alan Kurt Schumacher Galerisi ise, kentsel ve siyasî tarihi çok çeşitli sanatsal bakış açılarıyla yorumlayan sergilerin ziyaretçilerle buluşabileceği bir merkez. Bu galeri aracılığıyla kültür ve siyasî eğitimi buluşturmayı hedefliyoruz.
İşçi hareketleri başta olmak üzere toplumsal hareketler ve direnişler ile Berlin’de sosyal demokrasi’nin geçmişine ait tarihî kaynakları kütüphanemiz aracılığıyla biraraya topluyoruz. »Kütüphane Sohbetleri« ve »Sol Görüşlü Hayatlar« başlıklı etkinliklerle de Berlin’in siyasî geçmişinde iz bırakmış kişileri düzenli olarak anarak »hatırlama« eylemini, siyasî kültürün vazgeçilmez bir unsuru haline getirmeye çabalıyoruz.
